Spencer Alpert’s commitment as an environmentally responsible developer dates back to his earliest projects in the 1970s. Simply stated, he has made it a priority to strike a balance, preserving and complementing the natural environment while meeting the demands of economic feasibility. Whether redevelopment, rehabilitation or new mixed use sites, Mr. Alpert possesses a track record of working diligently to reduce impact on the environment through smart planning. Early in the Falcon’s Lair development process, Mr. Alpert prioritized and focused on the environmentally sensitive issues: care was taken to reduce traffic impacts wherever possible, plans were made to incorporate access to public transportation, and both hike and bike trails were incorporated.
Mr. Alpert’s commitment to maintaining the natural beauty and integrity of the environment can be seen in large and small ways alike throughout his projects. On more than one occasion, Mr. Alpert has taken the extra time, expense and care to outright move and transplant trees in the path of development that would otherwise have been lost forever. He has saved old growth trees by working a project around them. In trees that others might have simply destroyed, he saw value and beauty, realizing that the beauty of nature, once lost can be impossible to reclaim. This foresight and care can be seen in some of his earliest projects such as Gate Creek Ranch in Oregon to his more recent Falcon’s Lair development.
Today, Ceradimm has made an even greater commitment to create and maintain “green” sustainable development projects.
So, for Ceradimm, “green” and “sustainable” are not new words or concepts introduced recently to ride a trend. These are commitments made years ago: commitments that haven’t changed over time, only to become enhanced as the opportunities have become greater for protecting the environment and providing sustainable living and community interactions within Ceradimm projects.
Currently, in Seattle, Ceradimm works with leading environmentalists, green architects, builders and city officials all working together to advance cutting edge technological construction, operational and economical feasibility techniques to achieve the ultimate mix of sustainable development on his upcoming development projects.
Ceradimm’s mission is to significantly enhance, speed up and increase the scale, volume and velocity of high impact/high profile sustainable high rise development; to demonstrate through both vision and implementation the vitality and economic feasibility of ultimate “green” development features – beyond LEED – in ways that contribute to the environmental health and well-being of communities and individuals worldwide; and in doing so to prioritize beauty, style and distinctiveness in conjunction with cost effectiveness and utility.
Mr. Alpert has served as a silver sponsor of Cascadia Region Green Building Council. Cascadia is the premier environmentally-concerned building organization in the Pacific Northwest concerned with sustainability and making a change in the building industry. Taking a bioregional approach to problem solving in both the private and public sectors, Cascadia promotes the design, construction and operation of buildings that are environmentally responsible, yet profitable, attractive and healthy places to live and work.
